You can not put the metal together for that kind of money. I HAVE number one on the bench currently. Tons of hand work involved and no way to speed the process up. Fun project for a serious Fox guy but also lots of work and costs involved
My thoughts exactly. Done up correctly, with the rib matted correctly, and better wood, I would guess a finished price closer to 20K. Great project for a semi-retired double gunsmith who wants a Fox, not so much for someone who has to pay someone to finish it.
I would also expect 1.5-2 years for a project like that to come to fruition. You can buy lots of guns that are done and work for the $2500 price of admission on these guns.
I question the wisdom of thowing the money it would take to complete one of these at a 12 gauge as well. Ask all the big name double gun dealers how the 12s that have been sitting in their racks for the last decade have been selling.
