Received photos from a buddy who had in his hands an AYA .410 sxs. Looks like in good condition. Factory choked IC/IC, 2 1/2" shells, English stock, checkered butt on some decent wood. LOP seems to be around 14" (not measured). Under or around 5 1/2 lbs. He thought I might like the gun. Appears to be a field grade from 1972 to 1977? What was quality like in that era for AYA's ? Any thoughts? Approx. $1900 U.S. (sorry for the crappy photos, but he was in a rush)

Hmmm, one just like that just sold here on one of our Canadian forums. Was listed at $1900.00 Canadian. Don't know if he got that for it. The fellow who sold it got it from an estate for a whole lot cheaper than $1900.00.

Cute little gun though.
I have no idea as to value or quality of those AYA's. Only thing I know is that same SxS usually sells for substantially less on this side of the border.
The problem is finding that "same" SxS. That's what usually drives me to the US market.

You can get this for around $1800, brand new. Mine has been used two dove seasons and is perfect, IMO. 30" barrels, ejectors, good triggers ......... and the wood isn't half bad. SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll pass. It is quite a cool little fire arm though.

The little AyA boxlock Number 4 model; which was the ejector type with the Number 3 being identical except non-ejector, goes for around 1,000 to 1,200 in England if in good to new condition with the Number 3 about 750 to 850. You will find that it has; or should have, 3 inch chambers. Neat little guns. I have a Number 4 .410 and a Number 3 in 28 bore. The 28 is a delight to use and slightly lighter than the .410 as the barrel wall thickness at the breech is not as thick. The .410is still fun to use but doesn't have the balance and swingability of the 28. Lagopus.....

I always thought you called this model Yeoman or Kestrel, no? It appears very similar to Ugartechea 30 extractor guns. On North American continent the .410 brings hefty price premium over 20ga and 12ga guns.

I'd say that'll be a nice little gun to use. It's made before the diarm era so should keep going for years to come. I'm guessing it's a No.3, they did make non ejector No.4s to order aswell though. My 20g No.3 seems to be my go to gun most of the time these days.

From the photos, not an ejector gun. Tried to read a date code on the barrel flats but couldn't see one clearly. Checkering looks fairly crude. I know .410's come at a premium price, but that sounds too high to me.
