This is one of the transition guns between hammer and hammerless. I don't think it's a Cashmore patent, not too rare but not seen very often. Yes, you are right . this is something between hammer and hammerless. I am collecting guns more than 20 years, and I have seen such gun in a first time. If you have seen such system before ( not Fukert from Weipert), show me and other members, please.

These guns pop up at auctions from time to time. Holts had one last year. I don't collect pictures of guns but if I run across something I'll post it or a link.

The proofs definitely appear to be Birmingham. My memory may not be right but I was thinking the chamber mark, IE, 12/C was not used until 1887. At the same time the "Tween" bore sizes were added as in 13/1 so while this one was proofed as a 13 it could actually have been a bit larger, just not enough to accept a 12.gauge plug gage.

Raimey, I am looking at the interior of the lock. Is there an interior hammer in that lock you picture ? Is the firing pin on the interior ?

Very good eye there Mr. Hallquist. It appears you are wearing your correct monocle today? The striker is external from this image. Cheers, Raimey rse

If the striker is external, maybe the initials inside the lockplate are Bentley's . Was it David Bentley ?
