When it comes to double barreled shotguns, what qualifies as a curio or relic? Is there a cut off date? Would an English gun made before WW2 be a relic? Thanks

Yes, 50 years. The most basic rule of C&R guidelines.

Correct, of course you must be able to show its 50yrs old or on the list for most dealers to be able to show it in the BB if necessary.

https://www.atf.gov/firearms/curios-relics

"ATF has recognized only complete, assembled firearms as curios or relics. ATF’s classification of surplus military firearms as curios or relics has extended only to those firearms in their original military configuration. Frames or receivers of curios or relics are not generally recognized as curios or relics."

When a poster asks a question about doubles, how is it off topic on a double gun forum?

If there's anybody that is "off", it's you.

well stan, reckon its how one reads hit...and the bit about receivers not being considered as c&r items, and the reference to a dealers bound book do not pertain to double guns, in my view...

sounds more like someone trying to impress us with his detailed knowledge of atf regs...for what purpose one can only guess...

I've dealt with this many times and showing a British double fits under the 50 year C&R criterion is as easy as attaching a copy of the relevent page(s) from Brown's references or similar. I've never had one denied. It is the easiest part of the process...well,apart from spending one's money.

Ed Good, do you feel that Dave K's pertinent information is nearly as out of place and as idiotic as your anti-hunting comments or pro-PETA comments you post when dove season rolls around every year?

again, whats the problem some have with this organization?

And would you care to comment on the lunacy and stupidity of posting anti-2nd Amendment crap like this on a shotgun forum Ed?

what are you afraid of?

Sounds like you are trying to impress us with your anti-gun and anti-hunting Trolling prowess. For what purpose is no longer anyone's guess. You are obviously here to cause trouble and undermine this forum, and our rights to hunt and own firearms as well.

I am buying a gun made in 1930. It could then be considered a C&R, right? Can I have it shipped directly to me or does it still need to be transferred from one FFL to another?
