(I know it's not a doublegun, but this subforum includes "other fine firearms") Shipped October 30, 1916 to Simmons Hardware Co. in St. Louis, MO It arrived at my local gun shop and the NJ Permit to Purchase is being processed. Fortunately, it has enough wear to make it a shooter

Fit and finish on Triple Locks (and really any pre-war S&W) is top notch. The action quality will ruin you. Forget Pythons and other vaunted models...a clean, original TL will impress you.

I like it! A Triple-lock is missing in my collection. I keep looking... In this instance it was a blind pig finding the occasional acorn. Was looking for a pre-29 and this Triple Lock popped up in my search. Had to check Triple Locks online to make sure the grey area to the front right of the frame was not a defect.

Isnt the caliber .44 Special (and not .44 magnum, but special is more accurate) and .455 Webley, which is an archaic, but nevertheless an accurate and a neat round?

For whatever it is worth to you Elmer Keith thought very highly of his triple lock in .44 special. Off hand I do not recall for certain if this model was made in any other chamberings than .44 Special or .455 or not, it was never made n the .44 Mag. Perhaps the .38-44 but don't recall for certain when that round came out. I also don't recall if any .44 Russian's were still being made by then or not.

The 44 S&W Special was introduced with the introduction of the Triple Lock( 44 Hand Ejector, New Century).I believe they were also available in limited numbers of 38-40, 44-40, and 45Colt. The .455 production was for WW1 British contract, some of which were re-imported and converted to 45 Colt. The design was modified at the request of Brits. to delete triple lock feature, to save cost ( and maybe improve reliability in trenches).
