I am putting the final sentences to an article on the Nitro Special hoping the DGJ will print it. I can use help on the following: The question is what is the frame profile on 1935 Nitros (not the A Grade) serial numbers 299250 to 336399 and 1936 guns serial number 327300 to 336399. Are they flat sided or are the profiled similar to the NID. Second question is what kind of grip cap do they have, e.g. two tired or round oval? I have the A Grades, just need what was happening with the Nitros. If you have a 1935 or 1936 gun, please help me out.

Hi Walt, Not in the serial number range you're looking for but my Ithaca Lefever .410 with SN 356464 has the NID profiled frame and the round oval grip cap. Bill

Walt,
I did some more searches online. Not a lot of serial numbers listed but these fall in your ranges:
#330022, Flat, oval cap, 20ga #331929, Flat, oval cap, 16ga #3384xx, Profiled, oval cap, 20ga #343256, Profiled, oval cap, 20ga
Hope this narrows down the time frame that the Nitro Spcl. made the change.
John

Walt, I wish I could help but all of my Nitro Specials are older than what you are looking for. Glad you are writing the article, I look forward to seeing it in DGJ.

Walt, I have a NS #325508, which is flat-sided. Butt is not original, so can't help there. And a NS #339843, which is profiled, with a round oval grip cap. J.R.
