I need your help. First, Give me heck for accepting a gun accross the counter and not clearing the action.
I went into the local pawn and gun and asked to look at a LC Smith that they had just brought out. I took it and didnt open it. Nice gun no cracks, lever right, so I rolled the forarm latch and took the forarm off. Its a ejecter, cool. Pull the barrels, look nice. Go to put it back together and cant get the forarm on!!! The gun had been dryfired and I didnt open it and reset the springs befor I took the forend off, now I cant get it on. I told them I would try to find out what to do to get it back together. Can you all help me???

Gary you will have to cock the the gun before reassembling, use a small cresent wrench to turn the cocking levers at the front of the action until you hear the sears click into place.

NO WORRIES MATE

Use a small crescent wrench to lever the rotating cocking rod DOWN, using the other rod as a fulcrum.
And it's an extremely good thing no one tried to force the forend on-would have sprung the J spring.

All LC Smiths do not have a 3 position safty, but many of yhe older ones do. I have 3 1 from 1910 & 2 from the 1910's and they all have 3 position safties. I prefere the 2 position safty but the 3 position has noy been a problem.

The three position safety was available until the late 20's. I personally think it was a great idea.
The crescent wrench (4") works great, you can also use a screwdriver between the two cocking levers and re-cock it like James said until you hear the sears click.
If the gun has been broken down and you aren't sure if it was re-cocked, the cocking rods will move easily with your fingers if it was.
