Yesterday my wife and I were on our way to do some local shopping and came on this along side the road. At first I thought it was a puppy and turned around to check it out. He/she was not frightened and was no more than 6 feet from the car. Someone had seen the animal before because they left food, a rug and a Have-a-heart trap? My wife said it almost appeared as though he would get in the car if I opened the door. I moved the up the road about 200 ft so I could call 911 but Animal Control was already on scene. The fox promptly went into a culvert that was close by. The officer said it was a silver fox, I don't think so. The ears looked to short to be a color phase of a regular fox. What say you?

My guess would be an escaped or released pet.

I'm not disagreeing with anyone that this is not a silver fox - it just had very short ears IMO. BTW we just had a red fox look in our sliding glass door then go under the deck. Must be our week for foxes. I will say that the fox from yesterday was stunning!

You may want to read this poem and then maybe wished you had hung around in case the fox wanted to impart some wisdom. http://monologues.co.uk/Dramatic/Foxs_Prophecy.htm Lagopus…..

Arctic fox or a red x arctic cross, fur farm escape. Possibly someone's pet.
I used to have a fur farm, it's not a silver fox or any color phase of a red fox
