There are at least four versions of the Field Grade New Ithaca Double. As Introduced in 1926 the receiver had the roll=stamped dog and company name on the sides of the receiver.


After a while the folks on the factory floor began adding some engraved stars to the receiver --

but the stars didn't begin being shown in the Ithaca Gun Co. catalogs until 1929.
For 1935, Ithaca Gun Co. dropped the cocking indicators, decorated the receiver border with squiggly line engraving and fitted it up with a much nicer stock and forearm.


After WW-II a goodly number of Field Grade NIDs escaped the factory without the squiggly line engraving --

and they usually had a much smaller patch of grip checkering, more like the early NID Field Grades.
