I have been keeping up with the posts on this forum for some time now and thought I would say hello. I am new to the gun world getting interested in guns through my interest in engraving. I have been looking at, going to classes at Montgomery Community College and engraving since the early 90's. I go over to Ken Hursts shop to get help with my work and to get inspired as often as possible. I just purchased a L. C. as a project gun I plan to restore and engrave (with Ken's help:) Thanks for all the information that has been posted on this site, I hope to be able to contribute along the way.

Here's some work by Ellis. He re-chased the engraving on this Lefever G grade prior to Dr Bill Hambidge's re-case color. Beautiful work by both gentlemen!

Welcome Ellis:
You will find a comfortable seat at the table here.
Pay no attention to these Yankees when they speak of shoes !!! LOL
I am certain that it is no news to you that we treasure your mentor Ken. You could not have chosen better.
I echo the request of pics as the project moves along.
Best,
John

Welcome aboard, Ellis. The work depicted by the good Revdocdrew looks to speak for itself. Don't much care about the shoes one way or the other myself, but a good pair o' boots can come in mighty handy from time to time;-) We will be looking forward to your posting pics of your Smith as it takes shape.

Welcome to the board Ellis, I know you'll learn lots here from a large group of well informed "gentlemen". You'll run across other boards but none that can match this one ---- this is tops.

And yes, even as I type this missive, I still wear no shoes. Guess it's in the blood and being a native rural Carolina boy. I am happy that y'all gave Mr. Ellis such a fine (typical) welcome in order to make him feel at home here, thanks. I would also like to advise that Ellis is coming right along with his engraving and would be a great source for recutting/chasing old engraving for anyone that has a need for such work during the course of a restoration job. His gold border work is very straight, crisp and cleanly done. In the event you have need of his services, I will be working closely with him on all projects.

I would also like to thank all y'all that speak so highly of me, I will continue trying to justify your opinion. Ken

BTW Ellis, I'd very much like to add 'before, in progress, and after' pics to the 'Restocks and Upgrades' PictureTrail

You can post them here or e-mail by JPG attachment to revdoc2@cox.net and thanks!
