Is there a convenient source of finding when a DRGM number was issued. I am interested in finding the issue date for DRGM 1,423,932 for a Carl Schlieper Sodbuster Jr knife with black wood handles. I tried doing some google searches & found a bit but not a lot. It does seem that DRGM numbers ceased being issued in 1949 but could have been used for an additional 3 years or up to 1952.

What exactly is a DRGM (Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster) number, and what is it's purpose?

Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster I don't search those that often, but I am fairly confident you can search some of them here: https://www.dpma.de/english/search/depatisnet/index.htmlI believe Wolfgang searches them? Cheers, Raimey rse

Hi Stan; Good question. It is "Deutsches Reich Gebrauchs Muster". It basically translates to German Reich Registered Design or essentially a registered Trademark. A German patent was listed as a DRP or Deutsches Reich Patent. Both of these began in the 1800s. The DRP is I believe still in use today but the DRGM was discontinued in 1949 at the close of US occupation. With the new political regime as I understand it the name, but not the intent, was changed so that DRGM numbers did not appear on a product after 1952. I do not know if companies could continue with the mark even though it was no longer legally enforceable or not. I have seen US items with patent dates listed on them long after they had expired.
