Most if not all of my NIDs lock up with authority. I have just taken a NID apart (a task I have not done for a long while). There is a strong coli spring that closes the bolt. I suppose it can get tired with time. Also dirt, as was the case with this gun, can affect the bolt snapping closed as soon as released by the trip. As an aside, the gun I am working on appears to have never been apart since its 1928 assembly. After a ton of gunk was removed, parts are clean and shinny! Now--if I can get it back together--Good luck with your Ithacas!
Later today, All parts together and working, whew! I do need SET OF 12 GA. NID barrels to continue the resurrection. Some one out there must be tired of their BU NID by now. I find NID parts very hard to come by. Wonder why??
