Hello, I will take some picture if there is any interest but just picked up from a estate sale a I. Labrosse Dijon engraved ddbl hammer lock and stock and foreend. Barrel is missing. I did not see any info on this partial shotgun. Anyone hear of this gunsmith?

Best regards,

Photo would help. Likely that L. Labrosse is the retailer and his Armourie was in Dijon. Especially if the name/place is in this spot. One would think it was Saint-Etienne but without a barrel, we won't know.

Was he not the Mustard King? Yes, images would aide. But it seems Arquebusier Léopold(?) Labrosse sourced some of his wears from the talented mechanics of Liège. As Argo44 states, Arquebusier Léopold Labrosse á Dijon was more than likely a firearms merchant. And yes Argo44 I had mussels yesterday.

Labrosse était armurier à Dijon vers 1894-95.

Может быть и чуть раньше.
http://www.kaliningrad-fishing...hpres-0252.html

Machine translate: On the left lock board is written LABROSSE ARQUEBUSIER, which means "Labrosse the armorer" in French. On the right board there is a continuation of the inscription with the name of the settlement in which this Labrosse lived. But it seems that it will not be possible to read it.
P.S. Here is a Google search that gave a link to a lot of some auction http://www.auction.fr/FR/vente...le_broche_.html. Double-barreled hunting rifle of the "Labrosse arquebusier a Dijon" brand of the late 19th century for 100/150 euros. Now, having this information, you can already guess the inscription "a Dijon" (in Dijon) on the right key board.
Taking into account the fact that the technical condition of your gun is far from the collection and auction, then its price is probably even lower.

The first name "L" is not yet established inspite of speculation that it might be "Liège" or something. Methinks M. Raimey by advancing the possible prénom "Léopold" mixed with "Liège", is pining for his long lost Africa...but of course Léopoldville vanished 55 years ago into Kinshasa, malheursement.

Some other possibilities for "L" - 280 listed in the French name list for boys:
Laurent
Louis
Léo-Paul (name of my nephew)

Argo44, you have read my mind. I just escaped from there by my drawer-tail a couple weeks back during an insurrection. So my pining has been somewhat diminished.

Centerfire top-lever (and a very short one it appears) hammer-gun..but can't tell much more than that. There should be a powder proof-mark on the water table. Need more photos. Thanks.
