Merkel 76E, s/n 4702xx, 12 Ga, sxs, 76 mm (3-inch) chambers

Using the Mar. 28, 2007 posting of Jagermeister's 'date code sequencing'

What is month/year for my 76E coded: 10KG
or perhaps this refers to the proof pressure of 10 kilograms. There is no other codes that would indicate mo./yr. of mfg. I'm puzzled.

I have a 47e marked 6KF on the barrel flats and assume it means June of 1995 as I purchased the gun new in April of 1996....Dont know how the K interprets to 9x but it seems to....If Im right about that then yours would be Oct. of 1996....I think if it was 10 kilograms the letters would be lower case letters [kg]......

BTW I have an older 147 that is marked on the barrel flats in the same general location as the 47e.. with 593 ...May of 1993, which is a much easier to understand code...

BTW My bluebook says they stopped importing the model 76e back in 92....

Thanks, Gunut.....now, makes sense to me too. Previously thought the mod. 76E was discontinued about 1992, following the onset of mod. 122....both side-plated box locks. Purchased as a used gun in 1999 from Frankonia, Munich, Germany.
