I have a REMO GEWENRFABRIK SUHL 12ga O/U. Proofing stamps indicate the gun was manufactured in 1941. During WWII very few sporting guns we're manufactured by German Company's. This shotgun has a Monogram engraved on the bottom of the trigger housing. The monogram is almost exactly a duplicate of the monogram used by Albert Speer Adolph Hitlers Architect. I seriously doubt any engraver would have taken a chance at forging Mr Speers monogram at that time. Does anyone have any idea of a possible location in Germany where GEWENRFABRIK manufacturing records may be stored. I have been told such a place exists but have no other information.

John Venarsky,
Remo is the brand name for Rempt Brothers in Suhl (Gebrueder Rempt, REMO Gewehrfabrik). If any manufacturing records survived, they may be located in the Museum there. For general information, you might try the German Hunting Guns website. Actually, the Germans didn't stop making hunting guns until the very end of the war. I even saw a drilling that was proofed in Mar. 1945.
