This months edition of The Field has a Michael Yardley article about the new $61,200 Purdey Sporter. The engraving is laser cut and hand finished. Made entirely in Britain, but laser engraving for 61k? I guess if all you’re looking for is a prestige name it may be for you.

So this is a new gun, different from the Italian-finished version they introduced several years back? JR

That's a very competitive market to be in.. especially at 61,000.. But it's a Purdey.

So this is a new gun, different from the Italian-finished version they introduced several years back? JR Yes. It’s a new gun in which all parts are made in Britain. It’s a nondrop out trigger plate action without side plates. The trigger is nonselective. Think MX12ish. What a deal.

Peruggini Visini probably charge way less, I know Perazzi do for the MX12, and the delivery is way faster, the engraving hand cut. As for the name and brand thing, when it comes to OUs those high end Italian names offer plenty of prestige and arguably higher brand recognition for those that dwell on such things.

Forget it - it is far too heavy.

Sorry - I was thinking of the previous one. More haste, less speed.

Bloke holding the O/U spent all his clothing allowance on expensive shotguns, can't seem to afford full length sleeved shirts I should guess- Pity that!! RWTF
