a friend has a JP sauer 16 gauge. double trigger, extractors, with very light engraving. it's in very good condition 80% or better with excellent blueing and some case color, very nince checkering. Can anyone give me the value range or where i could find info on this.

What do you mean by light engraving? Is there little coverage on the reciever or is the engraving just lightly done? Pictures may help others give you an estimate.

very little engraving on receiver and some on the edge of the barrel where it meets the receiver. If i can get some pics i'll add.

this also has a very interesting trigger guard, it appears to be bone and is perfectly fitted. Is this something that was done with these guns?

Many of the pre-war German guns had horn trigger guards as well as horn buttplates. Best, Dr. Bill

It seems many these base-grade moderate condition Sauers sell in the $750 range. Top condition will go for over $1K, particularly the subgauges.

Whether justified or not, it seems prices remain fairly reasonable considering the quality perhaps because most wear raised cheekpieces (which aren't fashionable but can do wonders for fit) on plain wood, are often short chambered (<2.75 inch) and tightly choked, and the horn triggerguards and butts are prone to damage and not so easy to repair.
