The pros on an AyA: H&H sidelocks for a price that no one else in the market can touch, a pretty well made gun for the money.
The cons are the price. I remember not that long ago paying only 2500 dollars for a #2. The AyA has way too many up-charges and it doesn't really make sense to custom order the gun. Just a few ala-carte items on your #2 and the gun will be well over 6K. The sad truth is the Spanish gun is a good deal when the price is less than 4K. My opinion is AyAs are not finished to a level that justifies a 6 thousand dollar price tag. The checkering is fair, wood finish is poor and the barrels need at least 60 more hours of lapping.
The Euro and importer greed has caused the Spanish gun to become a real rip-off. The sad truth of the manner is many of my Spanish guns have required repair and they have had wood problems.
My suggestion is to choose the importer first then the gun. Fins a dealer who has a stellar reputation for standing behind his guns. If I were ordering a new AyA I would choose Dale Tate.
