Thanks Mike. I really like the Watson too! Probably once a month it comes out of the safe, and I think how lucky I am to have been able to acquire it. Pleasant to shoot, accurate, and plenty of gun for what I hunt.

Regards,
Chris

Just to possibly add a little more confusion I have a Jeffery barreled rifle that was proofed at the London Proof House with the under barrel proof stamps of 360 EX and Cordite 30 - 300 Max. Jeffery nicely spelled it all out on top of the barrel with 3 lines: 360 2 1/4 case; 30 grains Cordite; 300 grain bullet. As you might expect, shooting a 300 grain bullet with a 30 grains of Cordite equivalent load of Reloader 15 in a fairly light rifle does get your attention but it shoots to the sights. I use exactly the same brass as I use for my 9.3x57R (360) Husqvarnas.

Was the 9.3x57r ever factory loaded as a paper patched round?
Thanks Mike

Well, not Swedish, but going way back to the original 360 2 1/4, in 1873 Eley made coiled brass cases with paper patched bullets with a wooden nose plug. (Is this the source of - you plugged him;-)?) I have a Swedish write up (unfortunately in Swedish and technical things do not translate well with Google translate) that says there were 3 classes of loads. One was target loads with lead "spoked" (grooved?) bullets, another was "bird loads" with "smooth" bullets, and the third was game loads.

I have given up on the 208gr paper patch, it shoots 8” high at 100yrds. I have obtained a Lyman 366408 mold it cast 250gr. I am currently waiting on a .366 lube sizer die. I also obtained a 366408 hollow point mold. The little rifle only weighs 6lb, a joy to carry but a little tough on the shoulder.

Yamoon,
Isn't high shooting caused by either too slow and/or too heavy a bullet. Too slow means that the rifle has more recoil time and too heavy means that, for a given barrel time, the rifle recoils more.
