I was shooting in 2 weeks after each eye , with my Surgeon's Blessing.....you may get other instructions.....
Other than an increase in Floaters, I have nothing but good to say about my outcome......June/July of 2020

I'm 72 and still don't have any cataracts bad enough for surgery, and also don't need corrective glasses, other than 1.25 readers. I know I'm blessed, and hope it continues.
Sure wish I had the vision I did up through my mid 40s. When I completed in the NMLRA I could see the ghost squirrel's eye on the "Nightmare" target at 25 yds.

I had cataract surgery in February. The surgeon told me I could shoot as soon as I could get to the range. A couple of days that'd be fine. Another shooting friend of mine ask his surgeon and was told two months. I think not all cataracts surgeries are the same and maybe not all eyeballs are the same.. I waited a couple of weeks maybe a month total. Worked well enough to win a national championship in one event and be first loser in another this year. I am pretty happy.

I was told a week at most. The two months comment was obviously from a doctor who doesn't shoot. My results were wonderful. I elected "distance" because I shoot. I test at better than 20-20.

I suppose it could depend on what kind of cataract surgery you are referring to (or maybe there is only one kind……IDK. I had refractive lens replacement done a couple years ago. This is typically done for cataracts but in my case, I just didn’t want to wear glasses any more. In the case of this particular surgery, I would think a week since I had to wear a protective cover on my eyes at night for a week and was cautioned against lifting any heavy objects particularly if bending over for a week while the new lenses healed enough so they could not move.

Actually you are wrong about that doctor. But I cannot explain why the difference with my doctor who I know. It does not shoot, but it's familiar with shooters.
