The firing pins on my 12ga are not rebounding. They drag against the cartridge primer after firing and breaking open the action. Needless to say it's very difficult open due to the resistance. Any ideas as to what the possible causes are? Appreciate the help.

I HAVE A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH AN OLD L.C. SMITH. THE PROBLEM WITH THE FIRING PINS WERE THE LEADING EDGES THAT WERE NOT COMPLETELY ROUNDED AND WOULD INDEED HANG IN THE FIRED PRIMERS. UPON DISASSEMBLY, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FIRING PINS HAD BEEN FILED AND NOT ROUNDED PROPERLY. THIS MAY BE YOUR PROBLEM. TIME FOR A VISIT TO A GOOD DOUBLE GUNSMITH.

Luck is the residue of good intention and hard work.

My 1894 vintage L.C. Smith is a beast to open with anything other than Remington Primers. My try switching primer or ammo brands.
