Not used to paper shells. But the paper base wads of slightly older topgun shells I can always tell by the smell. I will ask the shooter if those shells have the paper base wad. They have always to look. And ask how can I tell. I tell them the smell gives it away.

Like Stanton, I really like IMR 4625. I use it in all of my low pressure loads for 10, 12, 14, and 16 gauge.

SR 7625 was the dupont nomenclature....stood for shotgun/rifle. after they ceased production, it was made and marketed by imr - who marked their production as sr 7625 - but for the purpose of distinction many call the later powder imr, to separate the two different eras of production.
as far as i know, there is no difference in composition between the two.
