Sirs this is off topic but a local store has an old Rem 31 D, 12ga, all the engraving, vent rib shotgun for 900 otd. Just wondering in yalls experience if this is a good deal in today's market. Thank you.

That is a steal if it is all original without a pad.

A significant percentage of them were trap guns. I would almost expect one to have a Fajen trap stock, they were that common.
It all depends on condition, as you know.

Just like Winchester with the Model 12, Remington only offered a vent rib on the 12-gauge Model 31 Trap and Skeet guns. Pre-WW-II the Trap came with a Hawkins pad the last Remington catalog with the Model 31 still says and pictures a Hawkins pad but I sure see a lot of post war Model 31TCs with Fray-Mershon or Pachmayr pads.

Thanks to all who replied. I know this shotgun isn't a double, but it is nice looking. it is home now. Serial 26691. 30"bbl. Bore is - .730. Two inches of choke and .697 at the muzzle so .033 constriction. 12boreman, sadly it has an old Hawkins heart pad. I read about 189k total model 31's were made. I wonder how many were "D" grade with the vent rib.

Looks right as rain to me. The receiver with serial number 26691 was put in work during October 1937.
