I recently shot sporting at a club that required fiber wads. We shot Eley 28 gr 1250 fitasc loads

We all agreed they def had more recoil than my 1290s

What was the weight of the charge and the FPS?

That aside, the Eley VIP loads hit me the same way, pardon the pun. Have a few boxes left in 16, but, haven’t been in a hurry to use them.

Best,
Ted

1 oz and 1250. The other shooters said the same thing plus one had an ISIS unit and shoots release so he is pretty sensitive to recoil

My 1290s are 1 oz Gamebores or Bornaghis and have way less punch.

The plastic "piston" wads were an advancement over fiber.

I always read about it but this was the first time experiencing it.

BTW, some of the breaks were incredible. Puff Balls. Imagine the shot was top tier and hard.

I was shooting the Parcours, fixed im/m .733

Be interesting to know the total weight of the ejecta (powder, wads, shot) of the two loads which along with velocity are the factors determinant of actual recoil. Gun weight is also a factor but is the same with both loads apparently. It typically takes more powder with felt or fiber wads compared with plastic gas seals due to the less efficient fiber/felt to have equal velocity. The old reloader rule of thumb is 10-15% less of the same powder for plastic. Gil
