I have this old Charles Daly Prussian 10ga that is marked on the water table 10GA Nitro proof MAGNUM.. Has H.A.L. with crossed pistols, no crown. Serial number 754. Inclosed a few Pic's. Also somebody blotted out the writing behind the Charles Daly on the barrels, but can make out the first letter of K and I see a L near the end. Krupp Fluid Steel Barrels. ??? And maybe what age?? And Looking to message Ken Georgi about what info He might have on it.

In wearing the number 754, it is a very early 2nd series & it would date to 1892-1893. All that Magnum chicken scratching is waaaaay past the original effort & I for one know not where it might have been tested. But it was an English speaking effort. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1074798976Serbus, Raimey rse

Could this gun be made by one of his sons. And hence the low serial number started over??? The gun just shows newer fitting compared to the older doubles and its in 10ga. Does Ken Georgi have any input on this gun?? Or is there a way to contact him??

It was made by H.A. Lindner. Ernst Lindner would have had 10 years at this time after being born in 1883. He fell in fierce fighting with the Brits in 1914, so that was the end of the Lindner line.
Georgi should pass by @ some point.

All that Magnum chicken scratching is waaaaay past the original effort & I for one know not where it might have been tested. But it was an English speaking effort. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1074798976I'm wondering if there ever was any actual MAGNUM NITRO PROOF load testing... or if that is just some rather uneven number and letter stamping... applied in a different font and size than anything else on the gun. There is no indication or stamp from a proof house, and no indication of either the alleged nitro proof load or max. nitro service load. I could certainly be wrong, but this looks like someone's crude effort to make an old Prussian Daly shotgun into something it was never intended to be. Also somebody blotted out the writing behind the Charles Daly on the barrels, but can make out the first letter of K and I see a L near the end. Krupp Fluid Steel Barrels. ??? Nope, not Krupp Fluid Steel Barrels... not even close. It is evident these are blued-over Damascus barrels, with no etching to bring out the pattern. The barrels may retain 90-95% blue, but it sure as hell ain't original blue. Hopefully it was rust blued and not hot salts blued... but that rust around the front sight bead could be a bit of leakage from bluing salts residue. You might want to go back and edit that Gunbroker description a bit to reflect what this really is. I put it on my watch list to see what happens, but I won't be bidding. It sure would be interesting to know the chamber length, bore dimensions, etc. This one has been messed with, in a bad way, and it doesn't take a Prussian Daly expert to see it.

Hello, I'm here. A couple of thoughts (some of which Raimey and Keith have covered already):
This is a Daly hammerless model 125. The crossbolt (vice dollshead) and the lack of ejectors, combined with the relatively plain engraving pattern, peg it as a model 125. As Raimey mentioned ,this is a Heirnch Lindner made gun, but I I would put the production date a few years later than Raimey's estimate at circa 1895/1896.
Turning to the barrel flats, I know of no national or independent proof house that marks its proof testing in this manner. I have never seen anything similar on any other Prussian Daly gun. To me these appear to be someone's basement efforts. The rest of the proof marks look to be typical German 1892-era proof marks for a tightly bored 10 gauge gun.
As Keith mentions, this appears to be a damascus barreled gun. The rib marking that has been partially obliterated would read, "Charles Daly Fine Damascus Barrels". My hunch is that whoever marked the barrel flats, scratched over the rib inscription (and also likely blued over the damascus pattrn barrels) in an effort to conceal that fact that this is a damascus gun. (Side note: In the early 2000s, I sent a big Daly 10 gauge hammerless damascus gun over to the UK for proofing. It passed the modern magnum proof with a yawn.)
In term of the rest of the gun, the pad is (obviously) a replacement and the forend tip has been significantly reworked, likely due to the loss of some of the wood near the ebony tip.
I'm happy to answer any questions that I can. Here is my email address if you'd prefer to chat offline: kengeorgi@gmail.com

What a shame that the originality of this gun has been lost to time. I'm afraid it would be cost prohibitive to put it back right.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

A guy I know contacted me about a month ago on this gun. Took a quick look at it. Enough weirdness that it wasn't that interesting to me. He decided not to pursue it.
I've shouldered the 10 ga Lindner Daly I'd like. This isn't it. LOL
The world cries out for such: he is needed & needed badly- the man who can carry a message to Garcia
