I've spent most of my time since 2009 on the 'main' forum. This time I hope to get advice more specifically.
I have an O/U from 1941 model 303 with broken top lever spring. What would be the best source for a replacement?
Thanks for suggestions in advance!
Welder (Jim.)

Well, you can get some spring stock & make one or see if New England Gun or Dutchman Wood Works would make you one. Last, get it to them & they will make you one.

Spring blanks are by far the easiest way to make a spring. Post a pic, I might have something that would help.

SKB, Any pix I'd take would be of the engraved sidelocks! I've messed with doubles for 20 years and have learned tons from the posts on this site. Over the years I have learned to pick your fights carefully! Diving into this 303, which was my father's, is above my pay grade. At 79 I don't think I've got the patience or time to learn the ins, outs, and tempering of top lever springs!
I get the feeling the correct course is to find a competent smith to handle it.
Thank you to all for your input and the knowledge this entire board has had over the years!
Jim.

I'm not looking for repair work, but if you are not able to find a solution to your problem, I'm sure I can fit a new spring for you.
