Looking for referral for a friend of my son in-law who wants a Browning rifle fitted with iron sights.
I know NECG is an option but are there any other reputable gunsmiths in that region. Not ruling out NECG but he wants to know if there is anyone closer to him. he lives in Portland area.
I dont accept work anymore so I wont do it. I do know from having done many of these types of sight retrofits, it takes time, diligence and careful workmanship to do this right without drilling through the barrel. I have had guns come in my shop that suffered this fate I related this to him so he doesn't just drop it off with some goober who read one book and watched a You Tube video.

any recommendation would be appreciated. I said NECG but he wants someone closer.

.

I’m not sure if it’s closer, but Matt Roberts has done great work for me.

Cole's Gunsmithing in Harpswell is closer and has a pretty solid reputation as far as I know. I've never used them personally. There is an also a company called Turnbull Custom Guns in Buxton. Very much closer and their website shows some nice work. Again, never used them myself.
