I assume they are Miroku SL 120 rebadged .They were highly regarded by the British trade although very few were sold in UK it would seem.They retailed for £1600 in 1979 !

I'm pretty sure I'm on safe ground making this statement. But an even rarer BSS is the Grade II boxlock. Unfortunately, it's basically just a higher grade version of the standard BSS. Not light and sleek like the sidelock. And due to rarity, you won't see many Grade II's listed. And when you do, they won't be cheap. I expect most of the Grade IIs have been snapped up by Browning collectors.

There was a very nice piece in shooting sportsman or DGG on them years ago. Shortly after reading it,I had a chance to buy a 20 SL from a customer that needed new barrels passed and then found the da*n barrels for sale in the white from Galazan a few months later. They are very nice! Oops article is in post above link.

A BSS BL in 12ga makes a pretty good duck gun for steel shot, with 3" chambers, reliable single trigger, stout barrels and plenty of weight.

A BSS BL in 12ga makes a pretty good duck gun for steel shot, with 3" chambers, reliable single trigger, stout barrels and plenty of weight. I think Stan wore one out doing that exact task with it. I don’t hunt ducks, but, own a few duck guns because they came to live here when their owners no longer needed them. A Mossberg 500 I own has been going to Canada for about a decade every fall to hunt with a kid that came through one of my firearms safety classes when he was 12. The little guy is about 6’5” now, and has little guys of his own. I tried to give it to him, but, his Mrs. gave him the stink eye over it. My son uses it to crush clays on his High School trap league. Not sure how I’d feel about a decent double in the bottom of a duck boat. Best, Ted

When I was taller and better looking, I used a Midas Grade Browning Superposed as my duck gun. WOW are those days GONE!
