It would cost about 5 to 10 times that sum just to have it sleeved in this side of the pond these days.

If it is 2 1/2” chambers you may be a bit limited in ammunition supply but if it fits you it should kill anything that you point it at within reason.

If you like the look of it, how far can you go wrong?

Thanks. I went ahead and got it. I'm traveling now so I'll post pic's in a few days. I've spent a lot more on crappier doubles in the past. I've spent more recently just on a receiver and stock in hope of finding barrels and a forend one day. And I've also spent more on other projects. At least this one is complete and ready to go. On the bbl flats I read 729 bores. Bnp with a crown over bnp. 12 in a diamond. 2 3/4 chambers now. 3 1/4 tons per sq.in. and of course the words sleeved. I've had many many American doubles. This is my first from thr other side. It feels pretty light and want to get back to take my own measurements. Any one know when 12715 may have been made?

Contact Chris Batha. He has the Boswell records that should cover your gun.
I had 12990. It was a side lock and pre-1898. It has moved on, via Kirby Hoyt, years ago.
I have a composed pair of Boswell guns. 13459 was Sept 1, 1899. The matching gun was built Sept 1902.
Contact: abby@cornellpubs.com, for a 1910 catalog copy. Abby may have earlier Boswell catalogs.

All best,
Joe in Charlotte.

With 2 3/4” chambers at that price it sounds like a steal!

Just remember you need 6 pounds of gun to comfortably shoot an ounce of shot, and choose your loads accordingly.

Looking forward to seeing the photos.

Good luck with your new Boswell!

I have a question concerning a Boswell, too. But, I will start a new thread so as not to hijack yours.

May God bless America and those who defend her.
