The original Belgian proof was 1910 - 1921 (there is no lettre annale) with a bore of 18.2 = .717". 18.3 = .720". The Belgians used a plug gauge like the Brits so .719" would be marked 18.2 ie 18.2 gauge passes but 18.3 does not. 13/1 would not be a Belgian mark and is .719" The 12 in the circle is German for the 12g chamber dimension 'JJR' looks to be German and I don't see a Belgian maker's mark.

Don't the German proof marks have a 'Repair Proof' mark in the mix (Crown/R) ? Wouldn't some repairs to the gun have required the re-proof before commercial sale or return to the owner. Things like tightening a loose lock-up system, relaying ribs, etc. Maybe a new hinge pin put in. The 2 small screws on the action flat look a little buggered.

Johann Jakob Reeb (1843-1924)
Typical for JJ padding his pocket on the backs of the talented mechanics in Liége.
Reproof in Z-M in 1936.

Not applicable to this gun because it was all done prewar, but I have seen French guns that were reproofed in Germany with a wartime proof date, bearing Sauer "SuS" cartouches. Loot guns, taken back to the fatherland for sale.
fiery, dependable, occasionally transcendent

I forgot to add that the Zella Sankt Blasii - Mehlis >>Nitro<< Proof was added in 1936 and more than likely the chambers were lengthened 5mm or more or were altered. The Belgian Sourced platform was finished in some amount by JJ and then in 1936 it went thru the full regiment of Zella-Mehlis Proofs. I don't know JJ's serial number sequence compared to time but I would hazard a guess this one was completed pre-WWI and more than likely pre-Nitro tests(rules change) for the German Custodian that ordered the platform from JJ.
