I have moved to a PW 375 from 40 year of 600Jr work. Boy if I had a Time Machine!

In any case it is working beautifully but the final crimp seemed a little tight to me - looked good but just feels like I am smashing it down a smidge.

I understand there are two adjustments, basically the overall length of the die and the spring (defined as the taper adjustment )

I raised the whole die 3/4 turn and the machine will now cam over which I assume is not correct - or is that correct and why it initially felt like I was smashing ?

Any basic help?
Should it cam over?
What is the taper of the crimp?

When you say smashing the crimp, is it too deep? I have a 375 and my issue with it is when the shell is pushed out of the die, the ejector post will sometimes push the crimp deeper

I understand your question and comiserate with that thought/ issue as well...
All in all there may be nothing wrong with what it was ( and I marked it and can turn it back)
I just feel like the handle pressure and end crimp is pushing harder than needed... It seem as if it crimps well and recesses properly AND THEN the handle moves an additonal fraction that feels like an excessive over squeeze. I raised the die a small amount in an effort to remove that additional fraction of over travel.... and it cams completely over. I suspect I mave have gone the wrong direction, and perhaps what I am feeling is "almost" the cam over over travel and perhaps a small lowering of the die will stop the handle solidly at a proper crimp. But certainly the ejection ram pushes uncomforatbly hard on the fresh crimp. I started running empties through a supersizer to avoid this. I have been doing them with and without the supersizer.. it works without, I am putting case lube in the PW resizer, but I certainly like it better on the supersized shells... I am not in so much of a hurry I need to skip the extra step.

My six 375s are almost 50 years old and I haven't read the "book" in a few years, but I can't see any reason to use a Supersizer when the 375 is the best shell sizer on the market. Good luck.

Eightbore... yeah I hear you... probably not necessary in general, and defnitely not for empties out if the doubles, however the empties coming out of the 1100 special field I have the kids using seem like it may have an 18ga chamber!

Others have given good input.

My two cents is the cam-over when both crimp starting and final crimping is a normal necessary feature to insure consistency in the crimping process. If you're having issues either your adjustments need some fine tuning or possibly your wad/shot column height needs some tweaking.

I inherited a .410 PW 375 from a late friend who loaded many shells with it. It was set to "cam over" at the crimp stage, which was maddening for me, but apparently the way my friend had it adjusted. I readjusted it to crimp on a dead stop. However, I can't remember how I did it.

I apprecaite the replies, and I really welcome any further notes or specs... I currently have it crimping at a stop without caming over and it feels right to me. It is requiring a great deal less pressure than when I started and I think the crimps look proper. My only note. (8 crimp on Rem Game Load hulls) is that the folds are not "square" and most have a spiral look towards the center. That said, I think they generally close that way even factory correct? I know my 6 crimp is always a very clean 6 pieces of pie, but the 8's spiral a little. Is this normal do i need to adjust a little? I would post pic but IMGUR seems down these days?

Ponsness-Warren have a free owner's manual download on their webpage, including for the 375. I have one of the earlier 375 models and the booklet that came with it. This lists the adjustments and "fixes".
