Hopkins Sporting Clays sent out a message today that this year's Vintage Cup has been cancelled due to a lack of vendors and shooters. I shot there this weekend and they told me no vendors had signed up and only a few shooters had registered on Scorechaser, so this isn't a surprise.
Not clear what the future for the VC may be, as Hopkins took ownership of the event from the Vintage's for this year's event.
It's very clear that the future for the ''Vintage's'' is bleak.
#1 - 3/4's of past attendee's live in the far North East. They are getting ''Old'', do not buy from Vendors, they have more guns already than they need.
#2 - Price of booth's and tables for vendors is ''Very Expensive'', they have to raise their prices on their guns to try and recoup the high table prices.
#3 - Their high prices scare away most any of the buyers that may show up.
#4 - Just keep in mine that most shooters in the far East that do show up, ''Shoot'', THEY DO NOT BUY. The other thing is a lot of them just come to ''TALK''
#5 - Now if the Vintage Cup was held in a mid western state like OHIO, you would get new shooters and most important, Guys that Buy. Time to Change the location of the Shoots!
#6 - Just been told things are so bad at one of the Northeast shooting places that they give away tables to Vendors (No Charge), even then they only get 3 - 4 locals to set up. NO Big Name Dealers !
