Last spring or late winter I sold my hammerless drilling in 16 X 16 X 9.3 X 72R to my gunsmith. I've come to the conclusion that I actually do prefer hammer guns and rifles.

I really don't like being without a 9.3 X 72R and I was down to just one drilling..didn't like that either. Soo...I'd been lying in ambush for a decent hammer drilling chambered the same way. You know how drillings are, well, any firearm. The good buys don't linger long. A week ago tomorrow I came across one on GI that looke quite nice and after some lengthy e-mails and phone conversations I sent the gentleman a check for the title of this thread. I expect the drilling sometime late this week.

I'd post a link to the ad but he took it down already!!

My Sauer hammer drilling is a wonderful gun. Shotgun barrels are 16 gauge. Rifle caliber is a meaty 11.15x65. I have four cases, don't know where to get more. In the meantime, the rifle barrel is used to shoot 2 1/2" .410 shotshells. A friend sold me this gun for $200. I stripped the stock finish and refinished it. The wood is outrageous for a German gun.

I see a mention that the rim and base diameters are the same as a 9.3x74R. Do the cases you have confirm this? If so, brass will be no problem.

I don't reload metallics so I don't have an answer for you. I appreciate all help with my 11.15x65.
