Texas Side by Side Club. We had another fun year so getting ready for next year. For those who do not know we are strictly a side by side shooting club that shoot our side by side shotguns at sporting clays. We hold several shoots each year for our members. This year we shot at Ables, Dallas Gun Club, Joshua Creek and Greater Houston Gun Club. We had our championship shoot at Greater Houston Gun Club which we have a caterer brought in for lunch. We also have prizes awarded at this shoot. The rest of our shoot are just fun shoots. Getting together with other guys and a couple of gals who enjoy shooting sporting clays with the classic shotguns.
The dues are only $75 a year.
If you would like more info, just PM me or reach out at arrieta2@sbcglobal.net

How many members do you have in your club? Is side by side shooting pretty popular in Texas, arrieta2?

John, I think it's great you guys have continued a tradition around SxS. Years ago here in the Midwest we had a loosely organized group known as the Great lakes SxS Assoc. No dues, no officers. We held 6-8 shoots a year. Due to age, illnesses, business demands etc we let it slip away. Now a new group of people at least in Mich and Wisc have picked up the mantle and there are more Sxs fun shoots in the summer than ever before. The Vintagers may have faded away, but the SxS shoots are going strong.
This ain't a dress rehearsal , Don't Let the Old Man IN

I need to learn more about how you gentlemen go about having your side by side shoots. At one club I attend, there has been a standing rule for several decades that- if you become 70 years old and have been a member in good standing for 10 consecutive years- you have a free lifetime membership. And you don't have to pay any dues- which are about $160.00 per year. We used to have about 2,000 members, but a lot have passed away. Expenses caused people to stop shooting and then a lot of our members (I have heard about half) are now over that 70 year mark. My buddy and I are about the only ones (who I can see) who shoot side by sides. I need to find out how groups hold their side by side shoots and how to get people to shoot. Things like-how do YOUR GROUPS encourage people to shoot? Do you offer door prizes? Money? Aim toward younger ages? Some of us are interested in finding things like this out. So, if you get a chance could you please tell us a little more about your shoots? Thank you.
