What are you guys using to keep the shiny metal surfaces on your gun clean and shiny? I just got a chapuis arms grande luxe from my uncle and I want to clean up the metal areas that look a little dull/oxidized.

Any recommendations on metal polish?

Flitz is worth considering. It is not safe for case colored guns. Will that the case coloring right off. French grey guns it works well. Do a search on it on this forum and you will see some discussions over the years.

Simichrome is my polish of choice. While it works great on nickel and gray surfaces, it will remove case color and bluing. Everything else including wood gets Renaissance Wax.

Thanks gentlemen. The plan is just on the nickel surfaces only and sparingly. The gun has been sitting in storage for years and just needs to be brought back to its beauty.

I have a Ljutic trap gun that has a stainless receiver that looked oxidized or corroded. Maybe from sweat. Nothing would clean it. After trying numerous things, I ended up taking a very fine piece of sandpaper and polishing it with that. It came out perfect with no scratch marks at all. It didn't take but a few swipes. But I wouldn't do that on something that is engraved, of course. Try these gentlemen's suggestions- start with the mildest and work toward the harshest. Good luck.
