Any ideas on who made actions in 1950’s for William Ford BLE? Have read that Wright and Sons did a lot for Churchill, Gallyon, Hellis, Cogswell & Harrison. Any details would be appreciated.

I'll be interested in this too; a friend just bought a gorgeous little William Ford 16 gauge BLE.

It depends on what you mean by “made”.

I doubt if they produced their own action forgings.

William Ford had an excellent reputation as a barrel maker to the trade.

It is a guess on my part, but I would be surprised if they were not set up to machine and file the action forgings to shape.

A picture sometimes helps identify the maker, for example Daniel Leonard made a lot of guns for the trade and his guns often have a distinctive curvature on the back of the action.
