I always wonder what happened to Pete Hiatt. He was so knowledgeable on wood and stocks. He sure was a pickle. He hated Model 21s and I had so much fun rubbing him the wrong way about them. Boat anchors and tomato stakes! He was funny.

At Vegas one year, Pete Hiatt sold me a piece of English, a rifle blank, that I used to stock a prewar Midas Browning trap gun. It was a blank that Pete must not have liked because the figure went up on one side and down on the other, and it was cheap. I still have the other half which will make another stock. He mailed it to me with my address written in magic marker right on the wood. That's the way the mailman delivered it to me, no wrapping, no box. He also sold me a Super Fox that I still have. Those were my only two purchases at Vegas that year.

Did you really have fun rubbing Pete Hiatt the wrong way DimmyW? I'll bet you did. He was extremely knowledgeable about various species of walnut for gunstocks. There are still several articles he wrote available on the Doublegunshop.com Home Page

Since we're on the subject of rubbing folks the wrong way... why don't you tell us about the reception you received after your return to the Indiana Gun Owners forum. I heard it didn't go very well, and raised some suspicions that you were a banned ("Shootered") past member who had returned under a new account.

I'm sure you'll see this... since you are still IGNORING me!

I've only been a member since 2016. But I once asked "Twopiper" a question about welding in a PM. The answer was amazing. Now you can get it all by AI - but the thing about AI is that it often references this site! The human input is just different. Dave deserves support. Gene
