Woodcock season is about two months away ["green wall of hell" early season... gulp!]. There is a well-used but still tight SKB Model 100 20ga SxS that is doubling with heavy loads. Not an issue with 7/8oz loads, but 1oz or so results in it doubling.
It's been used regularly since the early 70s.
The snippets out of the defunct [?] Shotgunworld forum suggest pulling the butt and cleaning the trigger group [10mm hex for stock bolt and a standard screwdriver]. Dunno, we'll see. Supposedly, Ithaca had reports of doubling early on, and high speed photography showed "fanning" or more than one pull. Though I hunted with it almost exclusively over 20 years without any doubling...
As a back-up, are there any suggestions for a competent gunsmith that can service the inertia trigger? Preferably in the northern Illinois / southern Wisconsin area?
