This past weekend my son was in the Chicago Field Museum where the two Tsavo lions are on display. He said it was an interesting display and one of the signs said they did DNA analysis on the lions’ fur and confirmed they ate something like 35 individual humans. Another amazing thing is how small the male lions’ manes are. Apparently that part of Africa is very dry, and because of the low rainfall/moisture the lions have much smaller manes.

Intense clip showing several of the guns, and a gun rack. The shotgun appears to be a boxlock so not a Smith

According to the book the thorny brush(“wait a bit”?) country the lions inhabited kept their manes trimmed.

Not sure which Field Museum display is the best.

Dinosaurs? Oliphants? Antiquities?

My youngest is a Loyola of Chicago grad. The U uses the field museum for parent events.

It’s very cool.
I recommend anybody bopping around Chicago to see the bean, go to the field, and the museum of Science&Industry.
Get a Chicago dog for lunch, and an Italian beef sandwich for dinner.

Out there doing it best I can.
