All the young people are not lost to video games and street culture.
A few weeks ago I was spraying on a farm I lease from a widow lady. A car pulled into the field, lingered awhile on one field edge, then approached me. A petite little blond girl exited the car and walked towards me. She introduced herself as the granddaughter of the lady i lease from. I said to her "I hope you're hunting hogs." She smiled and said that she was, and had killed a few. I learned today from her grandmother that Marlee is 21, newly married to a guy she met in Maine where she went bear hunting. She is a ravenous hunter, and processes her own game for meat.
I am so impressed with this young lady who possesses an unquenchable thirst for big game hunting. Her grandad and i were close friends and hunted together many times for ducks and doves. Apparently, Charles' genes were strong and are being exhibited in his granddaughter Marlee. May her tribe increase.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Indeed! May she and her “Mainer man” be blessed with a big tribe of little hunters.

Even though Main is pretty liberal, they have a very strong hunting tradition as well. Mike

Stan, Dale's granddaughter Sissy, likes to climb a deer stand behind his house armed with xbow or shotgun. Dale is no "take it to a processor" kind of hunter and he and Sissy will skin and butcher the kill. Got a photo somewhere where she is up to her elbows in the deer butchering it. I gave her one of my turkey guns years ago and Dale enjoys her company in the woods although she hasn't had time lately other than for deer behind his house. Found the photo. This was over 5 years ago. Her boyfriend, the shooter, was in the stand with her and the slug creased the buck's head, stunning it. He hadn't zeroed the gun. She took the gun from him and delivered the kill shot. Her granddad showed her how to butcher deer and she won't let granddad help. According to Dale, the BF was clueless when it came to butchering the deer. Gil ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/11WstMK.jpeg)

This girl is great; I know her grandfather is bursting with pride. Her children will, for sure, be future hunters. Mike

Marlee called her grandmother awhile back and asked her if she would drive out to the farm and help her load a hog in the pickup. Grandma and her couldn't load it. Marlee gutted the hog on the spot to lighten it enough for them to load it. She then took it home and processed the meat herself.
May God bless America and those who defend her.
