Shoot their guns? I took one of the damascus hammer guns out this morning and shot a round of sporting clays. George Daw 16 gauge… ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/MGvjc9rn/IMG-4618.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/mrtFcm6z/IMG-3585.jpg)

No. You’re the only one here that shoots his guns. You’re also one of the old heads here that loves to use this website for likes and attention. Facebook/instagram/tiktok for old people. Glad you get out and shoot your guns, what a cool concept.

I was out Saturday trying out my new Zoli Clays gun.
It works...
The NRA has proven itself unreliable and corrupt. Period.

I shot my 1872 Blisset 12 on a full round of Skeet last Thursday (as a warm-up and a test of it's utility for upland hunting). Since RSTs are a bit pricey I probably won't be making a habit of that but...my double-breech 1901 Ithaca NIG 12 hammer gets shot fairly regularly on trap and sporting clays. Before the Ithaca, I was shooting a Model F LC Smith hammer on sporting clays.
All of these guns are damascus btw.
All of my hammer guns are great fun but only a few of them are substantial enough to be used regularly on targets. They're all fine for hunting but the steady pounding of targets would seem to be unwise, even with RST-types of ammunition.

Well I'm getting up there so with AI help, I'm letting my robots shoot my guns - I follow via web-cam and drone footage. It's actually pretty much like the real thing and the nicest part...if I miss a clay, the bot will take out the whole clay throwing machine for me in retribution. Don't have immediate pictures but this gives the idea. And it's pretty much the future of war. (By the way, were the clays shooting back? Or has that technology not yet reached Montana?) ![[Linked Image from jpgbox.com]](https://www.jpgbox.com/jpg/76127_600x400.jpg)

Shoot their guns?
I took one of the damascus hammer guns out this morning and shot a round of sporting clays. What other reason would you have for owning them? It would be like owning a television and never watching it, or a truck and never driving it. Or a wife and never . . . . . . arguing with her. Kind of a strange question, IMO. Station #7 was a b**ch, eh?

For sporting clays I often use a 1930's Tolley hammer 12 or an early 1880's Smallwood ten with 12 ga adaptors as they are pretty stout. Occasionally a Greener 12 Far Killing Duck gun but it is choked very tight. Eight bore Smallwood with 12 ga adaptors is good fun. Less frequently a Wild 12 and an early H&H 12, light guns. All Damascus except for the Tolley. And a CZ Hammer Classic for skeet, as that club shoots over SF Bay and requires steel shot.
If the bottom line on my scorecard looked like Shrapnel's I would keep score!

I use my W. Jeffery hammer gun, made in June 1914, for recreational clays plus some late season pheasants. Getting 2.5 " cartridges is no problem here of course.
It was catalogued as the Farmer's Gun and sold for £5 - 0 -0 exactly, or $800 in today's money. Not Damascus of course.

Just wow, Anyway to answer Shrapnels question yes I shoot SC with a couple of friends. I don’t have vintage guns such as you mention but I rotate thru my various shotguns. Lately I’ve been shooting a little Ithaca pump ( I know I can hear the gasps) I picked up for short $ earlier this summer.
Life is short. Enjoy it.
