so I have the opportunity to thin out the goose population on the local golf course next Monday. Some guys will drive carts up close and pot some. My plan would be to be near the wood line and hope to catch them going back to a bordering stream. My wife is thinking that geese that have eaten primarily grass off a golf course will be loaded with chemicals, and not healthy to eat.

Read above and act accordingly. Friend died from rapidly advancing cancer contracted from swimming in a golf course lake daily. Probably more toxic than a nuclear waste dump. Not to mention potentially getting your face in the local paper for animal abuse. Not seeing the win here.

I’m literally at the point I won’t waste a round of ammunition on a Canada goose.
The stuff used to grow turf, kill weeds, kill bugs, clean pavement, pressure wash buildings, clean glass and whatever else is used around a golf course all have one thing in common.
It doesn’t taste good.
The golf courses in my part of the world tend to be in second ring suburbs, that have matured, and feature sedimentation ponds, poorly maintained ditches, and aging infrastructure. The city of Blaine deals with numerous lift station pumps that clog all day, every day, and the trucks pull the pump, pressure was the baby wipes and sewage into the ditch, and reinstall the pump, with no concern for the stuff left behind. The things that turn up in storm sewers are scary, industrial waste that shouldn’t be there, but, is. Most of what ends up on the roads after a good truck accident just ends up in the watershed, you would be surprised how many major roads here don’t have storm sewers built near them. The sewage lagoon at the old pork farm up on 242 always had geese and seagulls hanging around it.
City birds, along with city mammals and city reptiles, are best avoided. We used to eat the crayfish out of the Rum River near Anoka, as kids, but, somebody told us to stop doing that, and, interestingly, we did. The suggestions on how often you should eat locally caught fish are surprising, with pregnant women being advised to eat none. Period.
Feel free to let us know how the geese, eat. I’ll pass.
Best, Ted

Jeez guys, he didn't say he was going to eat them. He just said he could shoot them. How many golfers are dying from playing golf? And, most of them play a lot more than Jeff would be on the course shooting some geese. Kill 'em, Jeff. And, listen to your wifey. They ain't good even if they don't have chemicals innem.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

When you get up to Lloyd’s have him build you a corned goose sandwich. The geese he gets up there live a different life and eat different food. Same birds are good ground into sausage, too. Best, Ted __________________________________________________________________________________ Guys use 50% beef or pork with the goose. Probably better without the goose. But, you ate it.

Give able-bodied non-working people geese to eat instead of giving them Food Stamps and EBT, and kill two birds with one stone. They will then be happy to go back to work, and will even take the jobs vacated by deported illegal aliens. And it will save the taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.
I use herbicides carefully and sparingly, and wouldn't want to live next to a golf course or drink well water from a well in the same aquifer. Golfers may not be rolling in the grass, but the workers are spraying large amounts of chemicals, and getting exposed. A local golf course wiped out a large number of spruce and pine trees planted along the highway several years ago when they sprayed 2,4-D on a windy Spring day while the trees were in budbreak. I also often see workers for Chem Lawn, TruGreen, and other lawn service companies spraying on windy days, and without adequate PPE. Then fools who can't stand to see a dandelion let their kids and pets play on the freshly sprayed lawns. Of course, we once taught Greek and Latin to High School students, and now Colleges teach remedial English and Reading. It shows.

I've eaten Canada Goose that wasn't objectionable, once, in KY. So, I can fathom that, maybe, it can be prepared to be decent, by someone expert in goose.
But, I'm with you on shooting them being a waste of good ammo.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Geese in N. Virginia are too lazy to fly back to Canada so they hang out on golf courses, dump crap and eat the greens. Locals have put up replicas of foxes, coyotes and even gators near the lakes kind of like scarecrows to no avail. One enterprising young man got the idea to have a remote controlled drone speed boat run them off the lake. He was attacked by PETA and told to cease and desist under pain of arrest for animal cruelty. Just issue each golfer a 20 gauge as a 15th club. . .problem solved.
