Shrapnel and Ted seem to think that our current roadless federal lands should be wheel chair accessible. Try to imagine the cost of making that possible and the general disruption it would cause. Look, we have developed our way into the extinction of more and more species. Look up the figures for yourself. Preserving places for creatures other than ourselves requires limitations on our ready access to them. Hunting and fishing in the Rocky Mountain region are a dim shadow of what they were when we were young. That there is so much less left to conserve makes it all the more important to do what we can.

It would be totally out of character for Trump to start a war over oil. Anyone that's studied his modus operandi can see that, unless they are leftist biased. Trump is an unpresidential ass with little real leadership skill, but your statement is accurate. He's a lot of things, but he's not stupid.

Since 2001 the US has been at war all but maybe 5 years, all brought to us by poorly thought out GOP choices. No. The first part is roughly accurate in a broad sense of continuous U.S. military operations; the second is false. Easy enough to turn Grok loose on that: - The 2001 AUMF (response to 9/11, enabling Afghanistan and later expansions) passed the Senate 98–0 and the House 420–1 (sole “no” vote from Democrat Barbara Lee). It was introduced by Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D). Presidents of both parties later used and stretched it for operations far beyond the original al-Qaeda/Taliban focus (including against groups that did not exist in 2001).
- Afghanistan began under George W. Bush (R) after 9/11 and continued under Obama (D), Trump (R), and Biden (D).
- The 2003 Iraq invasion was under Bush, with a separate 2002 AUMF that also received substantial Democratic support in Congress.
- Libya intervention (2011) was under Obama.
- The major anti-ISIS campaign in Iraq and Syria (from 2014) was launched under Obama, relying on the 2001 AUMF (and secondarily the 2002 one).
- Drone campaigns and strikes in Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia, and related counterterrorism expansions intensified significantly under Obama and continued under later presidents.
- Later actions (Red Sea/Houthi operations, various strikes) occurred under Trump and Biden.
