The original red Winchester pad on my Model 21 is relatively hard and is developing a crack across the face of the pad near the toe. I'd like to stop the crack before it gets deeper or runs farther across the width of the pad. Does anyone have any recommendations for repairs to old rubber pads, such as gluing the crack? I'd rather not replace the pad.

I did run a Pachmeyer pad until it fell apart, the day before a hunting trip. I didn’t even notice it was falling apart until I picked the gun up out of the safe and half the pad stayed behind.

If it says Winchester on it, you can likely get a replacement. A pad isn’t a forever item, they do go away, and any repair to a hard pad is likely to be quite temporary, at best, and unsatisfactory in actual use.
