It's over 7 grand now...someone sees the same forest I do.
When you first posted the link and had bid all you intended to bid the auction was at just over $1500.00. If you see the same forest why'd you quit?
I thought I would take a run at it if it didn't go much higher and the seller has even quoted part of my correspondance in the auction. I am no 'expert' but I was the one the told him that more the 50 Premiers had been produced. In that same note I let him know that the Scott records ARE available but he did not add that bit of information to his auction.
Don't get me wrong that is just about the nicest Premier I have seen. Some Imperial Premiers are arguable 'nicer' but that would be a matter of opinion.
Scott Premiers and Imperial Premiers are still a 'bargain' among best guns even though their prices have shot up in the last 10 years. Still, $10k for this gun is IMO way overpriced. If you pay that much for it you can't realistically cut any corners on the restoration so you are looking at $8-10K minimum in additional costs.
Additionally a couple of folks that I know made a run at it before it hit $5k couldn't get any answers as to barrel condition so there could be some expensive 'hidden' costs in the restoration. Of course Scott made guns of all barrel lengths but by far the most common for Scott and other makers of the era was 30". I would absolutely need to know if these had been cut before bidding on this gun (even when it was lower and I thought I could play).
At the current price you are looking at $16k and if it hits your higher price, the buyer could be looking at $20k (without barrel work) before he/she is done.
There are some serious Scott collectors who won't care and it would appear that at least two of them are bidding on this gun.
