I was just going through the promo material for the RBL-28 and saw that you could get a second set of barrels and forend for the gun.
I called CSMC and, yes, you can get a second set and forend, even though it is not listed on the order form. The cost for the barrels is $1,500 and does not include an extra forend.
Has anyone done this? It would be nice to have a set of 26" and 30"bbls fot this gun, wouldn't it?

I'm advised that an extra beavertail forend would be $750; don't know about an extra splinter. Total for 30" extra barrels and an extra beavertail would be $2250. Also don't know whether this would include a two-barrel case or just the regular case.

How would you choke the two diferent sets of barrels and how would you use them? I'm not a fan of two barrels sets or of two gauge sets unless the shooter knows why he needs different handling and that the single set of stock fit dimensions will be suitable for the differing situations where he wants the differing handling.
Note that, as described above, the second set of barrels is within $1200 of a second gun.

Would you need an extra forearm or would it fit both?
If it fits both, the cost is close in cost for a 2 barrel Repro set NIB.
So many guns, so little time!

First, a new RBL-28 lists for $3,650 with a $200 discount if paid in full when the order is placed.
Secondly, these guns have fixed chokes and the reason for a second set of barrels is for different hunting situations. The 26"bbls (choked Sk/IC, the only option) are perfect for grouse and woodcock hunting. An extra set of 30"bbs, choked Mod/Full (only option), would cover most other upland situations.
I doubt that I will buy a second set of barrels, but, it's nice to see it as an option that was not offered with the Launch Edition. At $1,500, it is less half the cost of a new gun and seems in the ballpark to me.

Builder,
If you like Parker Repros, which I don't, then this would probably does not seem like a good deal. The only Parker Repro I've owned I refer to as "The Gun from Hell". The single trigger worked for about a month and then toured the country for the next two years looking for someone who could get it to work. When this failed, I had Howard Miller put a single trigger in that would work. The total cost in trigger work was around $2,000 including $1,100 for the Miller single trigger. I was so sick of this gun, I sold it shortly thereafter at a substantial loss...good riddance.
We won't talk about the terrible case coloring that has the longevity of finger paint, or the stock dimensions suitable for anyone 4'11", not to mention the worst single trigger ever made.
As you can see, there is no warm as fuzzy feeling for Parker Repros in this neighborhood. They're not such a bargain when the wheels fall off.
I've owned both and I will take an RBL any day.
Incidentally, I'm sure that CSMC is not going to send you a gun with two sets of barrels and not have the FE fit both,or for that matter, a second FE that wouldn't interchange with both bbls.

A friend of mine has placed his order for a 2 barrel set. 26" and 30" with a single BT fitting both sets of barrels. I'm sure there will be a number of folks getting extra barrels.

Correction: Extra beavertail is $700, not $750.

I would get Briley choke tubes installed in the 30 inch. barrels and use the savings on shells. JMHO.

Tom28ga, Actually I was making a case for the RBL since both would be around 5 grand give or take. Sorry if I did not make that clear. I don't particularly care for the Repro and sold two beauties I had. I am not in love with the RBL even though I own one. If I were to buy a 28g RBL I might wait and buy it used but I doubt it. In genera I prefer 12gauge and I have a couple of very light ones, 6 1/2lbs, that I can load 7/8oz. low pressure that are nice to shoot and easy to carry. The 6 lb 1 oz. RBL kicks pretty hard with promo shells.
So many guns, so little time!
