Hello, I have an opportunity to purchase a Valmet model 412 over under with 12 ga. tubes. I remember that some of the Valmet's were able to switch barrels and there was a wide variety of caliber combinations available. Can anyone tell me if the 412 is the same beast? The gun is in nice shape and the asking price is $329 which seems reasonable.

I went back and bought it, the price seemed too low to let slide by and it looks to be decent quality. I suppose if it does allow for interchangeable barrels they will be next to impossible to find.

Try Jeff's Outfitters for barrels.

You can also try for the catalog and guns: http://doublegunhq.com/The Valment / Tikka / Finnclassic all use the same barrel sets. Once you have the receiver, you can find the barrels sets cheap on Gunbroker and the like. Pete

I just sold my 412 in 12 ga 3" over .30-06 for $800, but it did have a new 1x4 scope, fancy case, and the .22 adapter barrel. New owner loves it and shot several sharptails and pheasants while deer hunting. I just could not get used to shooting birds through a scope!

Thanks for all the information. I'm happy to see that barrels are still being made that will fit this gun. The one that would interest me is the 12 ga. over 9.3x74R. Perhaps someday I'll buy a set. Hal, Scheels in Grand Forks had a three barrel set in the case that they recently sold for over $2000, somebody must have really wanted it bad.
