I'm looking for a good 2" load for 7/8 oz of shot. Any help would be appreciated. I can do roll crimps and have some loads using a gas seal type wad and spacer but would like a load that uses a shot cup to cut down of lead residue in the barrel. Please email to esetter5@roadrunner.com.

Get some Winchester 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 oz wads that they use in thier big magnum 3" shells and cut the petals back to the same size as 7/8 oz/ pick a lower speed load say 1200fps back the powder off a bit, see how it goes and work it up from there.

I load 2 1/2 shells by using 1 1/4 wads cut back to 7/8 oz petal lenght and it works a treat

Gerry,

I've a couple of loads (7/8 -15/16ths oz.) that I'm fond of for the two-inch, but it sort of depends on what hull you will be using. I've developed one roll-crimp load for Federal papers, another for Winchester compression-formed plastics. Each takes a different plastic wad, but have the commonality of using Titegroup powder....a high-density but fairly progressive burning powder that's yielding (for me) 1100-1160 fps chronographed. If you like, you can e-mail me for further details at:

Gerry,
We don't have much in the way of grouse out here, but I do hunt with doubleguns and I never drink light beer...

I am also interested in a short (2" or less) 5/8-3/4-7/8 oz 12g loads for quail/dove.

I'm looking into getting some different wads to cut down as mentioned above. Ballistic products has a pretty good selection of wads, including one that is tailored for the 2 1/2 or less shell. I'm thinking of getting a bag of these and cutting them down further. http://shop2.mailordercentral.com/bpicart/

I'm thinking of starting with this one or one without a cushion. http://shop2.mailordercentral.com/bpicart/prodinfo.asp?number=072SSW

For me, this just about having some really light loads for my old light 12g guns that have loads comparable to a 28g or 410 for quail/dove. Also the "cool factor" is a driver.

Agullia has a 1 3/4" shells, but they run between $9 to $12 on the market for a box.

I have a chronograph and a PressureTrace to measure the pressure for this kind of work. But my new laptop has been a problem with the PT.
