Well, there is always something to learn here. I guess it does all make sense given the situation.

I would think Briley will see an upswing for their tubes.

It should make for some interesting finds in the used gun rack in Minnesota gunshops. Probably also we be a lot of fine old guns damaged by steel and owners who don't know or don't care.

Larry, I read the report also and in the same way you did but, The only thing I can think of for woodcock is it's a Migratory bird and in Mn you don't have to have steel for Woodcock at this time but it would be so easy to put them all together in the non-toxic bird... Saying" All laws apply in taking Migratory bids" They can use word like "With In" so many yards of a water way. I hope this doesn't happen also and I will continue to buy my lead shells. The Hunt Club already has gone to this (Steel) and the DNR boys are out checking the fields. Going to the Phez Fest today I will see if they have anything more on this!

Grousewoods, it's possible they'd go nontox on woodcock, although given the statement about the forested part of the state (where the vast majority of the woodcock hunting takes place), I don't think that's going to happen. At least not soon. But you never know. Nontox is not required for woodcock in Iowa, but it is required for snipe and rail--both of which are also migratory. However, snipe and rail are much more closely associated with waterfowl habitat than are woodcock.

Look for a push for a woodcock stamp to appear shortly in several magazines.
