Why are there 135 model 21s for sale on Guns International? There are only 8 Parker Reproductions (they made nearly 1/2 as many of these as Model 21s), and 121 Spanish Doubles and 155 Italian Doubles for sale there. I've thought of buying a Winchester Model 21 for a while, and although I think they are over-priced, I can't understand why there are always so many for sale, compared to other brands. I forget the number, but there are not that many more modern Parkers for sale on that site although they made nearly 10 times as many as Winchester made model 21s. Are 21s better to buy and sell than to shoot and hunt with (not a serious question :<) ). What are your thoughts?

I think a number are coming out of collections right now since the prices have doubled in the last several years. I know of one large collection which has been pieced and parted out in the last few years. I also believe interest is at an all time high right now.

My goal is to shoot mine so much, they can't be resold except as wall hangers. Don't think it will happen.

Mr. Galazan has a good quarter of those on the site. He could have listed another several hundred if he wished since he manufactures them. He is also a prudent purchaser of older examples for resale. They are just as wonderful to shoot as they are to buy, sell, or own. There are many for sale because they are at the top of their market right now and people are turning them into cash to buy other guns that are at less than the top of their respective markets. Investing 101, basic economics. Not too many people are selling their Parker Repros because they haven't had enough fun with them yet. Psychology 101, basic human nature.

Eightbore, That makes sense, but how do you know that the M21s have reached there peak value? I'm not doubting your opinion.I'm just hoping for a little education.
Thanks Dave

No one can know for sure about future M-21 prices, but I don't doubt eightbore is right. If they're not at their top, the top will be a scary place to visit. I just saw a very unremarkable early 12ga. double trigger 21 at a local Cabelas tagged with an asking price of $8000!

Do you remember what the serial number was, Charlie? I have #93 and that is the lowest number I have ever seen personally or even heard of in the public's hands just from word of mouth.

I agree with Coryreb that people bought them 5-6 years ago for around $2000.00 and now can easily get twice that much for them.

Well my three may have doubled in value but so have most of the other guns I like. SO as far as I am concerned it is a break even deal. But I do not buy guns to make money off their value going up. I buy them to shoot or enjoy. Now that I think of it I bet my three have not been shot in a year or two. Once again I am falling down on the job of shooting guns as they should be used, not stored in a closet for the next generation.

Jimmy - The gun was behind glass, and I didn't ask to handle it. It was a plain-jane field gun, looked like it might have been restocked. It looked well-used and well taken care of. Jay

Seems to me,the few i`ve handled were`nt close to being as streamlined as an english/euro double,so I dunt get it,cept
fer the winnie collector aspect of it.
